Kroger Brand: ...Hey, it's not all crap!

Every once in a while, my husband will go on a money-saving bender and buy a bunch of Kroger brand crap that no one eats. On one such occasion, he picked up a box of ready-to-make pasta salad. Wow, that sounds appetizing. ...Not. It sat in the cupboard for months.

Go figure, we got low on groceries, and I had to choose between a can of corn or this pasta salad to round out a meal. Corn sucks, so the pasta salad won. I made it according to the directions and added a few fresh ingredients I had to the Parmesan sauce, since the dehydrated carrots it came with just didn't seem very fulfilling: tomato, red onion, and broccoli.

I mustered up the courage to take a bite and could not stop eating it. Wow. Kroger, you knocked this one out of the park. This pasta salad was amazing. I was almost done with my second helping when I finally thought to take a picture of this glorious masterpiece.

So let me take a moment of my time to thank Kroger for this awesomeness. I always make jokes about Kroger brand, but after inhaling this dish, I just might have to find a new store brand to make fun of.

Layla's Lunch

We haven't had any decent food in the house for at least a month. It's been pretty depressing, really. But last night, Hubby found the time to go to the grocery store and fill up three shopping carts. YEEHAW! Real food!

I'm a stay-at-home mom, and let me tell you... It's easy for life to get dull. Making oatmeal day after day? Even more dull. So I took advantage of my freshly stocked kitchen and made my 2-year old daughter a lunch that didn't make me want to stab myself in the eye:

A sliced chicken breast sandwich on whole wheat, white grapes (cut in quarters to prevent choking!), and fresh raspberries. Delicious and nutritious. And rather easy on the eyes, I might add.

Preparing meals for the famn damily is a lot more fun when you can put together a nice-looking plate and have some pride in it. I'm sure others would agree with me there. I'm usually the Peg Bundy type, but today I've upgraded to June Cleaver.

So where should I put the gold star I've earned for the day?

An introduction of sorts.

I feel weird jumping right into blogging without an introduction to it. So here's a brief little something.

My name is Lynzee, though I'm commonly known as Squish on the internet. I'm 21, married to Zach since 2007, mother to Layla and Adam, and in school pursuing a law degree. Blah blah blah.

I started this blog for one reason only: I love food. I love eating food. I love talking about food. I love looking at food. This blog is my outlet to be just as the title says. An unapologetic glutton.

This isn't the typical foodie blog filled with nothing but gourmet food and pretentious reviews. I'm way more casual.

I hope you fellow food admirers (haha) enjoy your visit. Cheers!
